The charming area of Insadong which is colloquially referred to as ‘Mary’s Alley’ is home to the art and antique market of Seoul. Located here are many art galleries, antique shops, calligraphy shops, quaint tea houses and coffee shops. Also located within the Insadong area are a multitude of restaurants that offer various Asian and Western cuisines.
The ubiquitous Korean street vendors are also present here with all their yummy traditional fare like skewered fish sausage, tempuras, rice cakes and more. On Sundays Insadong is closed to vehicular traffic and is transformed into a giant pedestrian mall, so visitors can shop and browse in peace without any fear of being mowed down by Seoul’s crazy traffic.
