Popular lifestyle brand Tommy Bahama is to open a massive store in an unusual location. Few international brands have elected to establish themselves in Hong Kong’s Wanchai district, but Tommy Bahama’s management claim the decision was due to rental cost considerations. The Seattle-based company, which manufactures a full range of lifestyle products including men’s & women’s sportswear and activewear, denim, swimwear, accessories, footwear and a complete home furnishings collection, also hopes to capitalize on the increasingly upscale nature of Wangchai in recent years, and the added fashion clientele it brings. The store, Tommy Baham’s first in Hong Kong and third in Asia, will also seek to draw in customers from the adjacent Causeway Bay shopping district. Although it will not include a restaurant, company management insist they are looking for suitable dining and shopping locations in the city. The grand opening is scheduled for October.
