Renowned Hong Kong designer-artist Alan Chan launched his latest project at Shanghai’s Park Hyatt Hotel on November 27. Over a six-month period, “Home Away from Home (27)” will occupy a 150m2 space on the 86th floor of Park Hyatt Shanghai–one of the highest hotels in the world.

“Home Away from Home (27)” showcases a carefully curated collection of art and lifestyle objects in a pop-up concept store setting. These objects, ranging from collectible furniture, delicate homeware and décor to exquisite arts and crafts, reflect Chan’s longstanding passion as a collector of Objet d’art. Many of the showpieces are a source of inspiration for Chan’s award winning, “East-meets West” style of design, while many others carry personal and special meaning to the designer-artist, such as the yellow film ticket dated back to Chan’s first date.
A big part of “Home Away from Home (27)” is Chan’s unique ability to pick out collectible items with potential appreciation and investment value. “I hope to create an elegant stage which is modern yet classic to shed light on those invaluable treasures I picked out from my daily life and travels and let the stage evolve to a lifestyle brand that genuinely reflects the content of contemporary Chinese culture to date,” said Chan.
