Hong Kong’s desert scene has followed suit and the city has, in recent times, seen a profusion of bakeries and desert boutiques that offer a mind-boggling array of delectable goodies including cupcakes and macarons. Now it seems that the grand-daddy of all bakeries, the famed Parisian bakery, Ladurée is all set to set up shop in Kowloon’s Harbour City mall towards the end of the year.
Renowned the world over for its scrumptious confections, Ladurée is most famously associated with its colorful, crisp macarons: two small, round cakes bonded together with a delicious ganache filling.
Ladurée’s macarons are offered in a wide range of flavors that are guaranteed to suit every palate. On offer are flavors like citron (lemon), thé vert (green tea), almond, framboise (raspberry), pistache (pistachio), chocolate, and coffee, along with limited editions like grape and cinnamon which are offered in locations like the Ladurée New York City. The bakery in fact introduces a new macaron flavor every season.
Aside from macarons, the world-famous Ladurée also offers a variety of cakes and pastries, fine teas, jams, candles, room fragrances and signature shopping bags at its many boutiques. Up until now, Hong Kong devotees of the iconic Parisian bakery had to hot foot to the brand’s Japanese outlets for their macaron fix. Now, with the impending arrival of Ladurée in Hong Kong, they need not cross the boundaries of the SAR for their much coveted sugar rush.
