Sail Away in New Phinisi Boat by Alila Hotels and Resorts

Tradition meets luxury and adventure aboard a new Phinisi that will soon launch into the azure waters surrounding the islands of Indonesia.  Alila Hotels and Resorts is touting the traditional wooden boat, which will accommodate ten guests and a crew of 16, as the most relaxing and ultra-modern way to explore the area’s coral reefs and to see marine life up close.

The 46-meter long Alila Purnama will set sail on a six day inaugural voyage on December 15 from Raja Ampat in Indonesia’s West Papua province.  The charted course will travel past several islands and guest will be able to dive day and night.  When not underwater, guests can rest in one of the four onboard cabins or in the master suite which boasts a private balcony, large sundeck, and wraparound windows with 270-degree views.  The Alila Purnama also contains a library, lounge, bar, dining room and free wifi so guests can share photos and stories with loved ones back home.  A spa therapist on board will soothe tired bodies with signature Alila massages.  Meals and non-alcoholic drinks are included, alcoholic beverages are available for an additional cost.

For those looking to expand their diving skills and certifications, the Alila Purnama has its own fully licensed PADI dive center onboard.  Offerings include Advanced Open Water Diving as well as 16 specialties ranging from Enriched Air Nitrox to Drift and Underwater Naturalist.  Kayaking, surfing, fishing, snorkeling and trips to local pearl farms can also be arranged.

Alila Hotels and Resorts focus on blending style and sustainability and the Alila Purnama is no exception.  Furniture throughout the boat is custom-made from locally sourced materials such as teak and rattan.  The boat’s three decks were built by hand in keeping with the traditional style of a Phinisi, making the vessel a perfect blend of comfort and culture.
